Aims & Ethos

Charters Ancaster Preparatory and Nursery School is proud of the care it takes of every pupil, and the support it gives to the development of the whole child.

We are proud of the “family” feel of the school.

We aim always to have a happy and stimulating learning environment, where children are valued as individuals, and where their personalities can develop in a nurturing and caring environment.

At Charters Ancaster, we aim always to provide the very highest quality learning experiences, to inspire children with a love of learning and an active engagement with the world around them.  We model a passion for learning, through specialist teaching, and a shared aim for the highest expectations.  Children are challenged to aim high, to hold themselves responsible for their own learning and behaviour, and to extend their own exploration of those areas of learning to which they are especially drawn.

We aim to help children develop a high sense of their own worth, with the qualities of resilience, responsibility, resourcefulness and reflection.

We want them to see themselves as potential leaders in all of the communities to which they belong, including the global one, and to see their own possibilities as people who can truly make a difference.

We place a high value on the expressive arts, on music and on sports and games.  As well as providing excellent learning in these areas, we emphasise the importance these subjects have on helping children develop confidence, the skills of working with others, and the ability to express themselves.

We aim always to work closely with parents in a partnership of guiding and supporting children as they grow, getting them ready for the next step in their education, and for life.
