Receiving primary schools tell us that they can tell a “Charters Ancaster Nursery child” when they get to school, because of their eagerness to learn, their good manners and their confidence in new situations.
Activities in the Nursery are varied and engaging. Children are encouraged to be independent, curious, confident and compassionate.
Uniquely, children in Nursery have weekly taught sessions of French, PE, Music and Forest School, with specialist teachers. We also have staff trained in Balanceability, and full sets of balance bikes, which are used on the astroturf or in the Hall.
The Nursery holds a Sports Day, plays and concerts throughout the year and all children are encouraged to participate. Regular trips to different places – the beach, a farm, a variety of workplaces – expand the children’s knowledge of the world and give them confidence to explore.
Communication with parents is daily, and parents build a strong relationship with their child’s Keyworker.
The children are able to integrate with pupils in main school at various events including picnics in the school grounds and opportunities for older children to support younger ones with enjoying books, music, games etc.
The purpose-built nursery offers a free-flow environment with secure access to the outside, with a covered verandah that allows for outside learning in all weathers.
