Excellence in Drama, and Speaking and Listening

IMG_0145

Charters Ancaster has a proud and long tradition of excellence in Drama and the performing arts. We recognise the vital contribution that drama activities make to building children’s confidence and emotional intelligence.

We participate annually in Hastings Festival, both in individual categories and a whole-school Choral category, which we have won for many years. Our pupils regularly win their categories – even Reception children as young as 4!

Children have a weekly taught Drama lesson.  We are very excited to have recently recruited an excellent new Drama teacher, Jo Taylor, who has a proven record of high-quality performance work with schools.

We stage productions at a very high standard, and aim to involve every child. Those with particular aptitudes are encouraged to take leading parts, but even the least confident are encouraged to participate in ways in which they are comfortable.

“I like that I have friends in all the different classes and we all play together.”
“I feel safe in school and I have lots of adults to talk to if I have a worry.”
“Forest School is the best! You learn without knowing you're learning, and it's up to me what I do.”
