Music

Charters Ancaster offers a wide range of instrumental tuition to its pupils. The team of specialist music teachers who visit the school are highly qualified, experienced professionals with excellent performing skills.

Instruments offered include violin, flute, clarinet, guitar, trumpet, trombone, cornet, piano, and keyboard.

All pupils at Charters Ancaster have access to peripatetic instrument lessons and from Form 3 are taught the recorder. All classes, including Reception and nursery classes, have weekly sessions with our own specialist Music teacher, learning Music theory and composition. There is also a weekly singing lesson for the school.

The school has a brass ensemble and music ensemble, in which all pupils have the opportunity of playing, and for which they compose their own music!

There are very regular performance opportunities – in Assemblies, at evening concerts to parents, in church services, in choir charity performances at Christmas, at CAF Fairs, and as part of drama productions.

Assemblies are held three times a week with traditional hymns and songs from around the world, and opportunities to listen together to classical and World music.
