We have a cook, Ms Miriam Mazerova, who prides herself on cooking meals from scratch, using fresh ingredients and plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. Lunches are cooked for all nursery and school children, and children in the school have a choice between a vegetarian and non-vegetarian option each day.
Lunch is served by adults to children in small dining rooms in the school, or in the nursery rooms. Bread is available at each meal, and the children are encouraged to use good table manners and to help clear away at the end.
Additionally, children in the school are provided with a snack before playtime each day – usually fruit – whilst nursery children have two snacks each day. Nursery children staying in Late Waiting also have access to food after school.
We encourage children to try as wide a range of food as possible, but communicate closely with parents about known food allergies, religious food observances or medical needs around food.
We are a nut-free school because of a pupil known to have severe nut allergy, and ask parents not to send snacks, birthday treats etc into school which contain nuts.
