Forest School Toddler Group

Welcome to our Forest School Toddler Group at Charters Ancaster

How do we book? Booking is essential, please either calthe nursery office on 01424216670 or send us a message via Facebook messenger to book your place once the event has gone live on our Facebook page. The sessions are limited to 10 adults so we ask that only ONE adult comes per family.  The booking will be on a first come first served basis, if you are unable to join this week’s session we will add you to a waiting list, you will be contacted if anyone cancels.  Our forest school sessions are aimed at children between the ages of 1-5 years, children under the age of one are welcome with a paying older sibling.

The sessions will run between 10-11:30 on a Thursday and will be £5 per child, payable in cash or over the phone when you book.

What can we expect? At 10 am, your forest school leader Sarah will meet you in the car park of the nursery, you will walk down together to our forest school area Most weeks there will be a fire started and we will enjoy a nice hot chocolate and biscuit. Please let us know of any dietary needs as we will try our hardest to cater for all, please feel free to bring your own if you wish.  Children will have access to everything with the forest school boundaries which are marked by a red ribbon, it is very important that children are supervised at all times and do not cross them.  There is access to water on-site for the children to play with and make muddy puddles.  We do have a fox onsite which we share our forest school area with, she does sometimes come out and will walk through the area. If you could not chase the fox and simply ignore it.

What should we wear? Suitable clothing is strongly advised, such as long-sleeved t-shirts, trousers, or leggings. Wellies or old trainers that don’t mind a bit of mud, preferable with a waterproof suit.

Are there toilets onsite? There will be a camping toilet available for the children to use, adults’ toilets and a changing unit will be situated in Wallis Hall, to access them please go through the double doors which lead into the nursery car park. If you do use them, please make sure all gates are shut behind you and that you come straight back to the forest area. Roaming the nursery grounds are NOT permitted.
